CERIMONIA IL 9 FEBBRAIO AL MINISTERO DELL'ECONOMIA E DELLE FINANZE
INTERVENGONO PADOA-SCHIOPPA, BROWN, FLAHERTY, WETLAND E WOLFOWITZ
PARTECIPA ALL'EVENTO LA REGINA RANIA DI GIORDANIA
Partirà ufficialmente a Roma, venerdì 9 febbraio, il primo progetto globale per lo sviluppo di vaccini contro le malattie endemiche denominato AMC (Advanced Market Committments for vaccines), promosso nell'ambito del G7 con l'obiettivo di salvare milioni di vite nei paesi più poveri e sostenere con nuovi metodi il loro sviluppo economico.
L'Italia, capofila del progetto dal 2005, la Gran Bretagna, il Canada e la Norvegia, annunceranno in questa occasione il loro concreto impegno finanziario per attivare lo specifico sviluppo del vaccino contro il batterio del pneumococco.
Alla cerimonia, che si terrà il 9 febbraio, alle ore 12.30, presso il 'Salone della Maggioranza' del Ministero dell'Economia e delle Finanze, interverranno, tra gli altri, il Ministro dell'Economia e delle Finanze Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, il Cancelliere dello Scacchiere Gordon Brown, il Ministro delle Finanze canadese James M. Flaherty, il Presidente della Banca Mondiale Paul Wolfowitz, il Sottosegretario alla Presidenza della Norvegia Morten Wetland, il Presidente del Comitato Indipendente degli Esperti AMC Heatherwick Ntaba, il Ministro della Sanità del Ghana Courage Emmanuel K. Quashigah, il Segretario generale del 'Gavi Alliance' Julian Lob-Levyt.
Partecipa all'evento Sua Maestà la Regina Rania Al-Abdullah di Giordania.
Nel corso della giornata i promotori dell'iniziativa saranno ricevuti in udienza da Sua Santità Benedetto XVI.

IN THE PRESENCE OF QUEEN RANIA OF JORDAN
The first global project for the development of vaccines against endemic diseases known as AMC (Advanced Market Commitments for Vaccines), promoted in the G7 framework to save millions of lives in the poorest countries and support their economic development with new methods, will be officially launched in Rome on Friday 9 February.
Italy, leading the project since 2005, the United Kingdom, Canada and Norway will announce their firm financial contribution to cover the specific development of a vaccine against the pneumococcus bacterium.
At the ceremony, held at 12:30 in the 'Salone della Maggioranza' of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, speakers will include the Minister of Economy and Finance, Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa; the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown; the Canadian Finance Minister, James M. Flaherty; the President of the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz; the Undersecretary of the Norwegian Presidency, Morten Wetland; the Chair of the "AMC Independent Experts Committee", Heatherwick Ntaba; the Minister of Health of Ghana, Courage Emmanuel K. Quashigah; and the Executive Secretary of the GAVI Alliance, Julian Lob-Levyt.
Her Majesty Queen Rania al-Abdullah of Jordan will be present at the ceremony.
During the day, the promotors of the initiative will be received in audience by His Holiness Benedict XVI.
