Interim public sector borrowing requirement in February 2012 amounted to € 7.4 billion, down slightly from the amount in the corresponding period of 2011 when the borrowing requirement was € 7.9 billion.
In the first two-month period of 2012, total borrowing requirement was € 10.7 billion compared to the 2011 borrowing requirement of € 10.3 billion.
The February 2012 figure was affected by the early payments made to companies as well as the concentration of net financing to the European Union.
Tax income, on the other hand, continued to record a positive performance.
