In the month of August 2011 the state-sector borrowing requirement amounted to approximately 6,900 million euros, on a provisional basis; therefore lower than the figure recorded in August 2010, of 7,942 million euros.
The overall borrowing requirement in the first eight months of 2011 approximated 46,800 million euros, down by some 5,800 million when compared to the figure referable to August 2010, amounting to 52,597 million. On a like-for-like basis, net of the loan for the financial support offered to Greece, which in the first eight months of the year 2011 approximated 5,000 million euros compared to about 3,000 million referable to the same period last year, the 2011 borrowing requirement has improved by some 7,800 million.
Comment
The balance of the month of August confirms the positive trend of revenue which is in line with amounts recorded in previous months. In terms of payments, compared to August last year, greater outlays have been allocated to local authorities.
