On 1 January 2024, for the seventh time Italy took over the presidency of the G7, or Group of Seven, the intergovernmental organisation that brings together seven of the world's most advanced economies: Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States, and in which the European Union also participates.
The Italian Presidency will run until 31 December 2024 with lots of events to be held throughout Italy. The Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held from 13 to 15 June in Apulia.
It is precisely Puglia that inspired the logo of the seventh Italian presidency of the G7: a centuries-old olive tree representative of the Italian and Mediterranean landscape, symbolised by solid roots, a gnarled trunk, lush foliage and olives, calling to mind the national identity and projecting towards the future. A blue graphic sign crosses the tree, symbolising the Mediterranean Sea and Italy's central position between the Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific. The seven olives on the leafy branches represent the seven G7 nations working together on global challenges.
G7 Finance
For the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the main event is the meeting of the finance ministers and central bank governors of the G7 countries to be held in Stresa, Piedmont, from 23 to 25 May 2024.
The meeting, with an intensive work agenda, will be attended by the finance ministers and governors of the G7 countries, the European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, the President of the Eurogroup as well as the heads of the major international organisations, for a total of about 25 international delegations.
