The first meeting of the Italo-Swiss steering committee on financial and fiscal matters took place today in Rome at the Ministry for the Economy and Finance.
The Italian team, headed by the diplomatic councillor of the ministry for the economy and finance Carlo Baldocci, and the Swiss team, headed by the secretary of state of the federal department of finance Michael Ambühl, who is in charge of the secretariat of state for international finance, met in a cordial and constructive climate to discuss the issues outlined in the press release of last 9 May.
Vice minister for the economy and finance Vittorio Grill met secretary of state Michael Ambühl at the end of the talks.
The steering committee, whose task is to coordinate technical meetings on the various issues at stake, will be once gain convened at the end of June in Bern.
Prime minister Mario Monti of Italy and president Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf of the Swiss Confederation will meet in Rome next 12 June.
