Washington, 25 October 2024 - Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti in Washington for the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund, the G20 and to chair with Bank of Italy Governor Fabio Panetta the G7 meetings during which he announced the agreement for a USD 50 billion (Euro 45 billion) loan to Ukraine.
Solutions to overcome debt, pharmaceutical production, and improving supply chains were the topics at the centre of the Round Table of G7 Finance Ministers and Africa chaired by Giorgetti.
On the sidelines of the Monetary Fund meeting, the minister met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and during the cordial conversation, Italy received praise for its commitment to pursue budget consolidation while promoting economic growth. Giorgetti met with the major rating agencies, Moody's, Standard and Poor's and Fitch. He saw Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Japanese Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato to talk about the issues at the centre of the G7 agenda.
The minister attended the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) concert for the 250th anniversary of its foundation held at the Lincoln Memorial Museum.
